What to put on a service business website
A service business website needs to explain what you do, prove you can do it and make getting in touch easy. Everything else is optional and most of it can wait.
Start with the service pages
Each service the business sells deserves its own page that answers what it involves, who it suits and what happens next. These are the pages that catch people searching for that exact thing and they carry most of the weight.
One page listing every service rarely ranks for any of them and rarely convinces anybody either.
Make the proof easy to find
Photos of finished work, a note about how a job was approached and what customers say are what turn interest into confidence. Proof does not need to be dramatic and it does need to be specific.
Where real numbers exist they help enormously. Where they do not, honest descriptions of the work stand on their own.
Say plainly how to get started
The page should say what happens when somebody makes contact. Whether the first step is a call, a quote or a short conversation, spelling it out removes the hesitation that stops people acting.
An enquiry form works best when it asks for the smallest amount of information that still lets you respond properly.
Keep the rest short
About pages, long histories and detailed process descriptions are worth having and they are rarely what wins the work. Give them space once the essentials are doing their job.
A site that answers the buyer's questions quickly will outperform a site that answers every question eventually.
Questions buyers ask
What pages does a service business website need
A page per service, clear proof of the work and a plain description of how to get started. Everything else supports those.
Should each service have its own page
Yes. A single page listing everything rarely ranks for any of it and rarely convinces a reader either.
How much proof should a website show
Enough to answer the doubt a buyer arrives with. Specific work photos and honest descriptions do more than broad claims.
