How to tell if your SEO agency is doing real work
Real SEO work leaves evidence you can check yourself. The clearest signs are things changing on the site, pages being added and a report that explains what was done rather than what happened somewhere else.
What genuine work looks like
Something should be different on the site most months. A page improves, a technical problem gets fixed, a new piece of content answers a question people actually ask. Those changes are visible without any special access.
The other sign is plain explanation. Someone running real work can tell you what they did and why in language that makes sense.
What a good report contains
A useful report says what was done, what changed and what happens next. Rankings and traffic belong in there, but they are the outcome rather than the work.
A report that is only charts with no explanation of effort is easy to produce and tells you very little. Ask what was done in the same period and see how the answer sounds.
Questions worth asking
What did you change on the site this month, and what will you change next month. Those two sentences reveal more than a quarterly review meeting.
Also ask what has stopped working. Channels shift and an honest answer will name things that need to change rather than presenting everything as smooth.
Questions buyers ask
How do I know my SEO is working
Look for changes on the site each month, pages being added around what people search and a report that explains the work rather than only the charts.
What should I ask my SEO provider
What changed this month, what is planned next and what has stopped working. The answers tell you whether real effort is going in.
Is a ranking report enough
No. Rankings move for reasons nobody controls and a report that only shows them hides the work you are paying for.
